Hello everyone. I haven't been here in a while, life has been busy. I have been dealing with sciatic nerve pain for a couple of months. It is slowly improving but I have a hard time resting and sleeping at night. Just wondered if anyone has been through this and do you have any suggestions. I'm so tired of trying to deal with this. Thanks in advance.

When I get this, I go to my chiropractor. Have you tried that route?

Yes, but it only helped to a point.

Did the Dr. not give you meds, and physical therapy.
Usually, it is up to 6 weeks, it can be shorter periods.
Age may play a factor also. Physical therapy, ice packs, or heat. Do what your doctor recommends.
Prayers for your healing.

I’ve been through that and doing anything about it depends on why it hurts. I had a herniated disc pressing in that nerve. I had surgery after a year of being in bed because when I tried to walk mynpainful leg would give way. Then I found a doctor who decided to operate, he removed the disc and I woke up after that with no pain except the incision. It’s been 29 years and I’m still fine. The problem is that finding someone who will do the surgery. I’ve met at least a dozen people who have this same problem and no one will do surgery.
I hope you find some relief.

A vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause Sciatica and doctors often advise patients with Sciatic nerve pain to increase their vitamin B-12 intake. Years ago and I do mean many years, I was having Sciatic nerve pain after having suffered a fractured pelvis. Our family doctor (I was only a teenager at the time) suggested increasing my Vitamin B-12 intake, it took care of the problem.

I over did last week and spent a night writhing in pain. Ice, TENS unit and stretching until I could get to the chiropractor. I am on the mend after just two treatments but keeping up the ice, ibuprofen and TENS. Of course more crocheting and knitting time once I find a comfortable position...
Good luck. It is no fun.

See a pain management specialist. I did and had injections into the nerve and into the joint. That was two years ago and I'm still mostly pain free.

Start by going to a doctor and getting advice from her/him about needed treatment and how to be as comfortable as possible. Yes, to your question, I've had it and it is extremely painful. Hope you soon can get some relief.

I can feel with you. I went thru this a couple of months ago.
It came overnight and believe it or not, it went away overnight.
Of course, my Dr/Therapist gave me some exercise instructions.
I am so thankful, this pain is gone, for now, anyway.
