I was right! My "tatty" little robin friend does have a 2nd family!

Wonderful photos. We had a treat last weekend when staying in a hotel in Wexford. The swallows had nested all around the eaves. One nest was right outside our window so we had a lovely view of the baby birds and their parents feeding them.

That must have been fantastic to watch - I would have had to be physically dragged from the room!! Did you take any pictures?

We tried to take pictures through the window as we didn't want to disturb them. The pictures turned out to be blurred so I deleted them.

I remember from childhood the delight of the swallows return each spring, and the amazing nests of mud that they built in the eaves of the house. I would not have seen one for sixty years!
I did have sparrows nesting in my chimney for the last four years, sadly this year it's rats.

What a pity, but I know the feeling! My husband is in charge of keeping our kitchen window clean - even our monthly window-cleaning service isn't good enough for good clear shots of the feeder!!

Well, that's one up to you!! No matter how hard we try, we just can't attract house martins or swallows to our eaves!!!!

Sorry to hear about the rats. Hope you get the problem sorted soon.

Love the pics. Whenever I babysit for my GS, we go out in the backyard and point out which birds are “talking”.
They have robins, cardinals and blue jays in their backyards. We make up a conversation so he learns the
difference in their sound.
