Just got home. A mass shooting in El Paso today at a Walmart. High numbers of casualties but CNN hasn't really nailed it down as the hospitals are busy treating victims. Talking to reporters isn't their first priority. I don't want to blow this up into some political brouhaha blame match. It happened. People, including children, were hurt. They need our prayers down there.

Something needs to change, praying isn’t stopping it.

No, it isn't. I'm praying for the victims and the medical teams. They said that Walmart was at capacity, about 3000, families shopping for the school year. Victims range in age from toddler age to 82. Lord, save this country from itself.

Seems every time I open a newspaper or computer this last week or so there have been headlines of a shooting in the US
Thought it must be the same one they were reporting on, but no.. there have been three..California, Wisconsin and now 18 reported dead in El Paso... scary stuff... thoughts go out to all concerned

This World is going crazy. We have not had a mass shooting here like the US for a long time but have had people killed by car a car ramming into crowds or outside cafes. We just had a a shooting at a mall just a mile down the road, young man shot to death this week.Toronto seems to have one or two shootings/ knifings deaths a night. This El Paso shooting is so sad.Such senseless acts.I Pray for our neighbours in the US ,especially for the victims of this most recent attack.Dianne 🇨🇦

In the United States there are an average of 40,000 firearm deaths each year. That's 109 firearm deaths EVERY SINGLE DAY! We tend to only think about firearm deaths when there is a mass shooting but we are ignoring the fact that this is a daily event in our country. The death toll never seems to stop and no one is doing a thing about it. Some politicians might offer thoughts and prayers to the families but that's about it.

you could ban all the guns in the country and CRIMINALS would still have them, do you think it being against the law would be a concern to them ?

Maybe stricter punishment might help ? I do not know the answer either. Prayers to all involved

The vast majority of mass shooters obtained their firearms legally. Few states have any back ground checks or a waiting period to purchase a long gun..which are increasingly being used in mass shootings. Criminals do not obtain highly accurate high power weapons. They purchase stolen firearms that have often been though several hands.

Punishment has NEVER worked as a deterrent and we don't need to ban firearms, we need to take steps that keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill, we need back ground checks that are comprehensive.

That is a sad situation down in El Paso. I wonder if the shooter was high on drugs, demonic, or hallucinating from mental illness. I could never kill, even for food. As a child I wouldn't step on bugs on the sidewalk. I am not as much a pacifist as back then but couldn't bear the though of my doing what that shooter did. No way !

I heard in the AM news there was a second one, same day in Ohio. Honestly don't know what this world is coming to- it breaks my heart to see this happening.

The best thing we can all do is to strive for/attain inner peace. For without inner peace, we can not offer peace to others.
