My local library calls us 'Sit and Stitch' and the local Senior Center has a 'Yarn-It' group.

We are the crafty villagers and that can be taken two ways too. Did you know there used to be 25 letters in the alphabet because the angel said No L, but God put it right again by making a double U.

what on earth is "stitch 'n' bitch"...?

- I've worked at reforming some of the language I learned while growing up <AHEM....>, so that's a word I avoid whenever possible, but as I got into knitting, this phrase kept coming up.

- Would some kind person enlighten me?
Thanks!
It is also a very good set of knitting books.

That expression simply means sew, crochet or knit and chat.

For those unclear on the term, Bitch stands for Being In Total Control, Honey. The more polite of us chance the first word to Woman . . .

When I had breast cancer 14 years ago (and again when hubby had kidney cancer followed by bladder cancer a year later - both of us still cancer free) I decided that cancer was a much uglier word than all those that so offend other people. So, those words no longer have any power over me. The only times I am careful about using those words is when I am with someone, usually much older than me (those those people are getting harder to find) or very young children.

My only problem with the term is the idea everyone in my group might be doing nothing but complaining!!! That doesn’t sound like a great time!

A local group near where I used to live is called the Ladies Sewing Circle and Terrorist Society.

They got that name because they sew and gossip, and strike terror into the hearts of their spouses about what they might be gossiping about.

Love this!

Knit and natter is a nicer name for a knitting group.

- I like that; I've always liked the word "natter"/"nattering".
Dunno why, it's just one of those things :)
