My next door neighbour had his 5th whhel trailer stolen yesterday from the side of his house.

It was 2 pm. His boat which is normally parked in front of it was gone for the day.

He has cameras all over and the trailer was plugged into an electric outlet.

His camera shows a white pick up pulling up,a man with a floppy hat got out, unplugged the trailer, hitched it to the 5th wheel thingy in the back of his truck and drove away. It took 6 minutes.

In the middle of the day and on the only day his boat has been gone this year.

Wow this takes nerve and is really scary.

Wow, that was brazen and obviously someone was watching the area and knew the boat was gone. Hopefully the thief is caught quickly!

That would mean a neighbour maybe..but everyone is very nice .I wondered if it was someone from outside who knew him and knew the traier would be unprotected if he mentioned he was taking the boat out.

My DIL's mom had her big trailer taken from the front of their home during the night. They never heard a sound. Never saw the trailer again. My son got a very expensive bike. The day he bought it,he locked it in the bike room of the apartment with a very expensive lock.It was stolen overnight. He said that the bike was very distinctive so it was probably taken to Montreal. My other son just bought a basket ball net,the kind that is weighted and you use it in your driveway. He moved it to the side of his house out of sight ,gone.Guess nowadays you have to get a huge thick chain to tether things but then ,there is no assurance.A very sad World! My neighbor had his composter stolen!!! The thief “forgot” the base and he/she came back later & took that too. I know the $ amount does not compare, but a composter?????

That sounds quite possible.

Where does this stop. Police here really give you no hope when stuff like that is stolen and then of course everyone’s insurance goes up. I had a front fence installed a couple of years ago because anything in my small front garden just got taken, potted plants, timber sleepers, hoses etc. since the fence went up I have had nothing taken. All mine was small stuff but it adds up over time and of course leaves you feeling vulnerable.

Yeah, my twin tumbler was over $500. Ridiculous for sure to pay that much to rot things in to throw back on the ground. I am on outdoors sites and the numbers of travel trailers being stolen is awful, also farm tractors and highway machinery, even truck and trailers. Another big thief items is Uhaul trailers parked outside of motels, ruthless people, they are everywhere.

It looks like the insurance are not going to pay up. There is a locking thing one can put on it which he didn't have so It looks as if he is out. He had paid $1200 insurance a year for 7 years for it too.

The middle of the day is the best time to take something like this. The middle of the night is very suspicious -- even if it was YOUR trailer!! But in the middle of the day, is someone going to stop and ask if this was yours?

A moving truck parked in front of someone's house in your block. Would you question them? They can clean out the entire house, and no one would raise a finger! Because it was in "broad daylight". That is the best time of day. It all looks so normal!

I guess criminals want to have regular hours as well! No one wants to work the night shift.

That is a very sad story.
How can people take what is not their property?
I would hope something that large could easily be found.

I have a vintage trailer which are stolen a lot!

I won't leave my house if a car isn't parked in front of it! If I do I have so much anxiety until I’m back home and see her still sitting in the driveway!

Several years ago Oprah had a segment about thieves robbing houses in the middle of the day. Her main guest was a convicted thief who turned his life around by traveling around the country giving speeches about how people can protect themselves. He said one day he & his team backed a UHaul trailer in to these people's driveway & literally stole everything out of their home while they were on vacation. The woman next door even came over & offered them cold lemonaide. The woman also remarked that she was not aware her neighbors were moving. With the way things are today, a lot of people don't know their neighbors so it would be easy enough to do something & no one would be suspicious.
