We are taking a Road Scholar trip in October and my best knitting buddy and her husband are too. She is a wonderful and experienced knitter. Since I am working on my sock techniques she has decided to learn with me. She knows how to knit socks from the cuff down
and size them for her sister who expects them as gifts and loves them. We will be working on sizing (much info gained from KP on previous post) and toe up with heel variations. She wants me to teach her magic loop and two at a time. Today I am working on Jenny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. I want to encourage others to try this very easy bind off, if not on socks, on a lace shawl.
I also love Jenny's SSBO and have had no problems doing it in pattern. I tried a couple others once each, ended up going back and redoing BO because it wasn't as stretchy/good as JSSBO.
I was delighted it was so easy to learn and get even. I tried EZs sewn Bind off and did not like pulling all that yarn through each stitch. It was not as stretchy either. Since I am learning this and trying to learn it to teach I'll do another practice sample today.

I always use JSSBO or a variation of it for my toe up socks...and for many other BOs. The variation would be for items with no ribbing...a picot bind off is one of my favorite BOs for ladies socks with no ribbing...
The "complaint" I have heard about the BO the most is"too ruffly". ... That happens due to binding off in the ribbed pattern. When binding off straight knitting or purling it lies as flat as can be.
Thanks for the information. I planned to look up a stretchy bind off technique today, so this was perfect timing.
After I made baby booties, I realized they weren’t wearable because the cuff wasn’t stretchy enough. Will make another pair using this stretchy bind off.

For my first pair of socks (not the experimental socks that ended up as bed-socks for my G.Granddaughter), I used EZ's sewn BO. The 3rd pair I made, had to take out the last several rows TAATTU, and found Jeny's SSBO. Since then, I use it on all my socks. Last night, I finished my 6th Baby Surprise Jacket. Was playing "yarn chicken" and realized that I was losing! So, instead of doing all the bind-off in Jeny's SSBO, finished the last 4th of it in the Traditional BO. Worked a treat! Since I have been a member of KP, I've found numerous Cast-ons/Bind-offs! Who'd a-thunk it!
