I want to make an Afghan in peacock colors for my bedroom in the gorgeous peacock colors. I am having a difficult time finding yarn. Or a pattern for that matter.
Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, brilliant KP’ers!

Amazon has a Peacock knit pattern for a cushion.. Susan Cowper, "True Colors Peacock cushion:Knitting Pattern". It is in Kindle version. Maybe you can adjust to the size blanket you want to make.

Knit or crochet? Do you want a peacock or are you mainly interested in the colors? This one has Tunisian crochet and granny squares.

Red Heart Unforgettable yarn comes in a beautiful color called Dragonfly which has peacock colors. This site sells it for less than Jo-Ann's.

Pattern possibilities, both crocheted:

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/peacock-pretty

If you want to knit it, that's going to be harder to find a pattern -- the concentric stripes of a peacock feather are a lot easier to crochet than knit unless you're really good at colorwork! It's also going to be simpler to make as motifs joined together because of the shape. But hey, ambition is how we learn so "harder" doesn't mean "don't do it"!

For the colors, I think you've got a lot of wiggle room if you just want to look at it and think, "PEACOCK!" I suggest a royal blue, turquoise, lime green, a purplish light brown, and golden yellow, all as vibrant as possible. Google "peacock colors images" and you'll get a lot of ideas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBpl6ZmYQZ0 starting at around 2:30 minutes might be useful. Real peacock feathers don't look like most people's idea of peacock feathers, so you'll have to decide which look you prefer.

Hope that helps!

No, you couldn’t read my mind! Knit. I’m looking more for the colors than the feather’s pattern as I have a beautiful rug with those.
Where I’m running into trouble is the yarns only have the blue/green colors or there is burgundy added. The gold color is what makes the cool colors so striking. Surely the yarn exists somewhere?

I'm wondering if I could stick with it long enough to actually finish this work of art. I may have to buy some Tunisian hooks for my interchangeables and give it a go.
