Why is it that when I find my next project ---there is not a yarn in my stash that will suffice? I just went through it all and ended up buying more yarn LOL!!!
I think the yarn gods conspire against us at times. I received an order for 6 hats and two shawls. I have a stash beyond SABLE but could I match the colors my client wanted? No. Good grief! I managed to get the shawls and two of the hats done out of my stash but had to purchase a few more balls. Fortunately I happened on a great sale at JoAnns and the clerk helped me save even more with coupons.
Because everything at home is already going to be delegated to some other creation you had in mind❓🤷🏼♀️❓😁
Happens to me all the time. Lol
Sometimes, our expectations are too high, I think. Certainly, in a stash that is as big as mine, I have the right yarn somewhere. If it's not quite the right color, maybe change the expectation. You were thinking pink? How about this pretty shade of purple? Not enough yardage? Could you combine another skein and do stripes? Often, there is no real reason to buy more yarn.... it's just fun to do so. (Sorry to be a party pooper)
This happened to me just last week. I'm working on a shawl with a complicated cable pattern. I came to the conclusion that I can only work on it during "alone" time with no distraction. So, I thought I'd dig into my stash for some nice acrylic yarn & set up a baby blanket to knit ... good TV knitting. NONE of the DK weight yarn in my stash was either a suitable colour or enough quantity to make one. As fate would have it, some lovely baby blanket yarn (Bernat Baby Sport) was posted on Kijiji for $1 a ball!
It always happens to me!! 🤣🤣
Going through this right now. Lol
It’s one of the laws of knitting: The pattern always requires a bit of tweaking to make it just right. You never have just the “right” yarn. If you have the right color it’s the wrong weight or there isn’t enough. We just have to live with the understanding we’ll always be buying more yarn.
I figured I'd use up left over I Love This Yarn Sport in a c2c throw. Found out I can't just crochet random colors, has to be EVEN. So, in order to finish it, I have to ask for discontinued skeins of 1 color! Some kper found me some on ebay, which I bought! They will be here today! Now I can finish my "use up the scrap yarn" throw!
No, no, no - the Yarn Gods are not conspiring against us, they are enablers!
That’s what happens, and I don’t mind.
I just reorganized my yarn and put myself on a strict diet. I also am trying not looking at new patterns. I’m trying to choose stash yarn, match it up with a pattern I already own and work from there. Wish me luck!
Somebody witty should come up with a name for this. Like Murphy’s law but for yarn
