I just ordered expensive yarn for a new sweater project and lo and behold it is a totally different color than what was on the website. I am now waiting for an RMA number to return it...minus the stockist fee and shipping will be my responsibility so after paying $89.99 I will be refunded $74.00 and have to pay premium s&h to do so. Grrr

Is it so bad you can't use it for another project. That's a costly return. And..the reason I buy in stores, and even then some colors have to be taken to the door away from artificial lights to see real color. I found that with aqua and a purple.

What company did you order from? Do you mean the color was not the same shade as it looked like on your monitor or did the company ship the wrong product?

A similar thing happened to me last year, but I decided to use the yarn received instead of going through the bother of returning it. This turned out to be a poor decision since I rarely use the sweater simply because I feel the color is off. Next time I will do as you are doing, and return it. Lesson learned.

If they shipped the wrong color, then it is their responsibility to pay the shipping both ways. Even if they shipped the wrong dye lot, unless there is some disclaimer posted. If it is their responsibility and they refuse, you can dispute it with your payment method.

That's why I rarely order yarn online. My monitor will show color differently than yours and it's no ones fault.

Too bad you can't just use that yarn for something else even though it is expensive. However, returning it is costing you the postage both ways. According to my calculations, you will be paying a penalty of about $32.00. Something for you to consider before returning it.

I would call the company. They should send you a return lable. As someone already said, you should not have to pay shipping.

Call the company and ask how to find yarn that will be the color you want. It seems they could send you a sample of their yarns so that you would be able to choose.

Never buy yarn through the mail. This always happen. You seldom receive the yarn that you were expecting. I like to feel the yarn before buying it and always want a good price. That's why I always buy yarn from A.C.Moore, Estate sales and garage sales.

I feel your frustration! Living where I do, very rural area of central Texas, there are no nice yarn shops closer than a 2+ hour drive (one way). Walmart & online are the only options.... Sometimes I order one skein/ball of an yarn, to see if the color is right, and sometimes I just throw caution to the wind.... Sorry your experience wasn’t a good one.😕
