Aldi are selling chunky, aran and baby yarn on Thursday 19th September. They also have needles, hooks, kits, some sewing items too. You can buy now off the web site.
From what I have been told their store in the US don't seem to carry yarn. Must be only in the UK.
We have one here, only been there twice but it is like a supermarket, limited items and the household items must be buyouts since that isle from what I have been told changes all the time.
I only saw yarn once here in a Florida store.....I bought some. I think it's in my "stash". I go there often. They have really great "deals". I wish they would have more yarn, needles, hooks, and kits here! ... I would be more than "hooked"!
In USA our local ALDI carries various items besides food but I only remember seeing yarn once and it was acrylic. I suppose they found a good buy. The store here is doing quite well but the only real competition is not. Except for a few staples, you never know what you'll find at Aldi's but the price is usually better than in other stores. Guess I should be glad that they seldom have yarn -- we do need to eat and I might get "carried away" with bargain yarn. Aldi's seem to be "keeping up with the times" but I am not sure that is a good thing for us older housewives who learned to cook. Of course, we are now a dying breed, and Aldi is in business to make money.
They are not buyouts. Aldi is a German store chain that has a particular model of business, fast and flexible: a reduced number of basic items and a revolving number of household items. Reduced overheads (e.g. pack your own and coin in the slot shopping carts) keep prices down. Kirkton House is their brand for household goods. Their produce is mostly local, often organic and half the price of Walmart. Most of their range is also cheaper than Costco. Their chocolate (much better than anything made by Hershey) and wine, inexpensive and good, and their gin came top in the world. They are worldwide, and they sell yarn in most other countries other than the US. Their nearest rival is another German enterprise Lidl! I first came across it in Germany, and I certainly wouldn't knock it! You can save a ton of money and not compromise on quality.

The Aldi in my area does not sell yarn, lots of groceries and other seasonal items that are different all the time. The nice thing about Aldi's is they now will deliver right to your door.
Our Aldi stores get yarn in around the start of the cooler weather.....I didn't get any when it was advertised as I need to use more from my stash, plus I mainly use natural fibres
It is owned by Trader Joe's. All of their items are excellent. The Aldi's here has had yarn once. Also according to my brother who delivered for multiple grocery stores throughout the US, they have the cleanest warehouses he has ever seen
Aldi's considers its main competition to be Walmart and build close to them whenever they can.
