My daughter in law wants me to make her "crochet tie strap crop top" (for the frills.com). The tutorial shows only right handed way to do the foundation half double crochet. Any advice?

A half double crochet is just what it says: yarn over twice (like you were doing a double crochet) and then pull your thread through both yarn overs at once; that's your half double crochet, left or right handed. (I'm left handed and that's the way I do it.

I crochet left hand and just follow the pattern. Everything seems to turn out nice. Basically just crocheting in the opposite direction.

That's exactly what I do. Do whatever the pattern asks...just with your left hand.

Mirror crochet, perhaps could happily work---------so that the hook would still enter the stitches from the side facing you rather than having to work behind the stitches. I'm assuming you crochet left-handed.
