by the way, this is my next sweater!

Hi CWS,
I 'chatted' w/Bonnie via PM -had to comment on her beautiful cardi- & asked if I could join y'all in your next KAL. Barbara Ann, I love this sweater you have chosen & would like to try to make it when you do. How soon do you think you'll start? I'm trying to finish up a Needs a Hug bear for my 17 yo GD who graduates Thursday, & Lion Country (US map) blanket ~60% done for my darling son-in-law.
I haven't read much of your dialog, but y'all seem really close, from a lot of different places. No one from the mountain west, though.
It might take some time for me to match your names w/KP IDs.

Hi Kat. I just cast on the sweater last night but I admit I am stuck already. Waiting for help from Bonnie. She's our "go to gal" :-)

Welcome to the Resort and of course you can join in on our KAL. There's really no special time you join in, you start when you are ready and finish when it's finished. No pressure. We share as we go along. It's fun, relaxing, and a learning experience. I'm glad you like the pattern I picked, it would be great if you knit the same one as we can bounce issues off of each other if needed.

Thanx. You are all soooo welcoming!
Barb (is it OK to call you that?), I'll try to start the sweater soon; although I am enjoying making the bear, I'm ready to finish my map & make something for myself finally!!!
Must not have noticed knittingneedles is so close to me.
Do you ever come to Utah? Although Tucson is one of my fave places, I haven't been to Arizona in ages. Originally from El Paso, so I've crossed 'our' desert more times than I can count.
Since I use my phone to surf, KP says I'm always online. Even though I don't have the most exciting life, I don't spend all my time here; I do actually knit & hang out w/hubby & waste time doing other stuff...

Ok, I am using a pattern I bought in VA at the festival. It's from Blue Ridge Yarns and it's called Laurel Ann. Very simple easy sweater that ties at the bottom. No buttons.

I can't share the pattern as it is a pattern that I bought and is copyrighted.

Good morning, Bitsey...

Barbara Ann... Do not ditch and run at the first sign of a problem! Otherwise how will you learn?

Take a look at the photo of the sweater. Look closely. Notice the center front (where the lace panel is) is lower than the surrounding neckline. So what you do prior to casting on those 39 sts across the top of that lace is work back and forth, to build up the shoulders and center back higher than the front. When it's built up enough, they have you add the 39 sts across the front and begin to knit in the round. It gets easier from there, as long as you stay on track with your lace and cable panels.

Also note that the instructions say the right side as you wear it... So as you lay it down and look at it, it will be the left side, but as you wear it, it's the right.

Let me go now and read the actual pattern and see if I can give you more clarity...
