My 4 year old grandson Cullen was being slightly bold the other day so finally I took him by the arm and put him in the naughty spot in the hall. He cried and called me but I ignored him and suddenly his cries (mostly fake!!) turned to giggles! Our new Westie, Penny who joined the family in March was over trying to sit on his knee and give him doggy kisses! She couldn't get close enough to him to comfort him.......... it was very amusing and I had to hide so he wouldn't see me laughing too!

Isn't a good feeling to think the dog will take care of the child. When my son was small we had George (a Collie) did the same thing. I could put them on the front lawn and trust the dog to keep him safe. A side effect was, they tired each other out.
