This is great. I just tried knitting a swatch with Drops Sanfran for a Drops design that called for US 2.5 needles (note the yarn called for US 4 needles). To get the guage (in both rows and stitches) I had to use US 5 needles. I am a tight knitter, so I understand going from US 4 to US 5 needles, but how Drops made do with size 2.5 needles is a mystery to me. And this was the recommended yarn for the pattern!

I am also a tight knitter--I've often had to move up a size or two (on occasion, three) to make gauge, so knowing that the designer may be a really loose knitter helps (I used to think I was doing something wrong!). I plan to note that on the patterns I write now, too, so loose knitters will be prepared to use a smaller needle to meet *my* gauge. :)
