I find this picture yesterday - I think it will be really handy... I can just put it on the floor and not worry about yarn getting dirty, or traveling around, or... whatever, or pulling the whole skein out while pulling - if used a standing kitchen paper holder...
I might ask mu husband to make me one - after all, that's what husbands are for, to be forced, poor things, to create things out of our imaginations... :D

I know I can. But he is more... велл, а perfectionist. If I make it - for me, not for someone else, I'll just make it work - and use the rest of the time for knitting. If makes it, it will be perfect.
Sneaky... hahaha. :D

Yea, but if I put this on the floor and just start knitting it will simply fall over the first time a pull a little... I do think the horizontal thing would be more practical in this case...

Very nice! Your husband did a good job and it looks like it will make knitting more efficient.

Wow, that IS a good idea! What is it? Is it stable? How is it done - or is it commercial... I really do like it!

it looks like a free stand toilet roll holder which is not at bad idea.
do you need to roll your yarn on to a cardboard roll first.

That's exactly what it is. Some people wind their yarn on empty toilet paper or paper towel cores, but the yarn that comes off my ball winder would fit on it without the core.

And the way some of them are made, the place to put the yarn is not very thick ... like this one:

No, the base is heavy enough to sustain some tugging. The base weighs from 5 to 10 pounds on most of them. You can move it around to wherever you want to use it. And your yarn is high enough to be about where you would want it to be to knit.
