Would you believe that I forgot how to add a new yarn on my dreambird. I just put it down and hopefully I will remember. I have been sick, so maybe my brain will recover :p This is so stupid. I hate when I get this way. Drives me crazy. I have done this before. Why does a person forget how to do stuff when they have done it before?

Just relax and do not try to force it. It should all come back to you once you have fully recovered. I have this same problem every winter (November thru February). The allergies and asthma get together for a long reunion and the brain goes on vacation.

I used to do this all the time. Now I write out my pattern, row by row, on 3x5 cards. knit a row, then put that card to the back, knit the next row/card, and so on. When I'm done, move that to the back. That way you always know what your next row will be. Put a rubber band around them and put them with the project. You'll never lose your instructions and they'll be in order.

I did that before I discovered charts. Now I put the chart in a page protector, staple it so it won't scoot and use a sticky note as a marker. Every time I put my knitting down I write the row on the note.

I got a cheap magnetic white board (yay for back to school sales) and a roll of strip magnet that I cut to width, two strips hold the sheet down, two more bracket the row I'm on. everything was under $10 :)

If I did this, I would never knit anything!

Sorry you have been sick! Hope you are better. Reclaiming a muscle-memory skill may take a little bit of time after you have been sick.
You don't want to stress about it, just take your knitting in your hands and meditate on what you enjoyed about the project. Just imagine knitting it and let your mind take you through the process. Pretty soon your muscles (hands) will reconnect with that memory and you'll be on your way to completing you project.

I've been working on my Dreambird and just wrap the end of the new yarn around the active portion before completing my stitch (hope that make sense!) It basically weaves it in as you knit. Since its after your double stitch and one knit it works fairly easily. There are still several lengths that I'll weave in at the end as it took me a while to figure the weaving out. Good luck! Hope you continue to feel better every day.

After you told me if I was doing a "russian join". I looked it up on you tube to see what it was. I like that join. I think I will use it next time. I have remembered how to join a new yarn. Dummy me. Sometime, I feel so stupid. Have a good day.
