Work the extra stitches in to keep the rib correct, keeping the 12 knit stitches at the edges.

Yes, I did end with the 12 stitches at each end. Is it ok to end the other stitches before the knit 12 with a (k5,) or the (P3) for the basket weave pattern?

You have 12 knit stitches on each side and the rib is p3,k5 ending with a p3 and then your 12 knit stitches. Clear as "mud"? Good luck!!!

The 12 knit stitches are set off by the 3 purl stitches so that you can see the rib stitches better (at least that's what it sounds like). So each side is knit 12 followed by (or preceded by) purl 3 (or knit 3 on reverse - I assume).

Thank you so much, I think you are correct. I just frogged all 145 stitches, & starting over(for the second time!)

Thanks for your help. I've learned how to add on the extra stitches. They say you learn something everyday, with me, it was the hard way! Looking forward to knitting the basket weave afghan tomorrow.

Your pattern is a 8 stitch repeat... it would probably be wise to add 8 stitches ...or at least a multiple of 8 stitches to keep the pattern.

Are you sure it's not 147?

adds up to 147.

I believe you will have 12 stitches on each edge for a border. I don't understand adding any extra stitches.
