My daughter (age 28) has just been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Disease. She does not really fit the profile of a typical sufferer in that she is very slim, she takes loads of exercise, she has a really healthy diet and has no facial hair (!). I know there is no cure for this problem, but I was wondering if any of you wonderful KPers know any good ways of dealing with the disease and managing the symptoms.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My niece has polycycstic ovaries, and she has always been very slim and an exercise fanatic, also without facial hair. I can't really offer any advice, but I can tell you that she sucessfully managed a pregnancy via IVF treatment, after years of thinking she would never have a child.

My daughter now 48 has polysistic ovarian desease. She had cervical cancer at an early age and lost one fallopian tube. She has had it since early twenties. She also was successful at getting pregnant via IVF and had a healthy baby boy. With her second pregnancy she did not need IVF. She still has problems all though much less severe but will eventually need a hysterectomy. Her children are now 13 and 15. Good luck to your daughter. Have a wonderful day :)

My daughter to, same age only discovered she had pcos after marriage and failing to get pregnant, she was given a low dose of Clomid and her first baby is expected in 3 weeks, many of her friends have also been diagnosed with pcos, and most have become pregnant, or have had a baby, so there is hope and lots of help available,

I was sort of "diagnosed" with it in my early 20's (the consultant shouted "because you have polycystic ovaries" at me when I asked him why I was having trouble conceiving...As he later saved my life I forgave him). Unfortunately I lost a falopian tube several years later after an ectopic pregnancy. There is an upside to this however - I have since had 2 gorgeous children (without IVF). She shouldn't give up, and hopefully no-one should put any pressure on her (like my FIL did). Try yoga. It worked for me. Good luck and blessings to you both xxx
