Good morning. I know someone out there in KP land has the answer I need. I am finishing up the all in one baby sweater and it is working out nicely. I think I have seen it somewhere where it was done without the eyelets at the top, more for a boy. Does anyone remember where I saw this? Or does someone have a suggestion as to how to make this sweater more "boyish?" Thanks so much to all my unseen friends here on KP! Happy Needling. jberg

You can do the increases as a M1 (lift the bar between 2 stitches) or when you do a YO on the next row twist it and it won't leave a hole.

You could eliminate the garter ridges to make it even more boyish.

Thank you all so much! I knew you would do it! I think I'm going with the 5 hr boy sweater. I've made the girlie one before. I like the garter stitch interspersed with stockinette at the neck and it looks great in "boy" colors. This is for a woman who has asked me for patterns and some knitting help in making items for a charity. Thanks again for all the help. Happy Needling. jberg

I don't either Mirl. It is too frilly for a boy and I don't what color of yarn they use. Its still girlish.

I don't see why you would need to leave the eyelets out on a boy's top. Just make it in boy colors!

I have used that pattern and changed the bottom to ribbing and it made it look more masculine. I think the blouse-y bottom can look girlish sometimes.

I should say though, that the pattern is not always easy to follow. I ended up rewriting it for myself so that I could read it more easily. As a result, it is a bit different than the original. But if you are consistent along the body and sleeves, whatever you do will look good.

i agree..i think the ridges in the yoke prevent it from looking "boyish:
