Hi everyone. I have a pattern that calls for the "Aloha"cast on on circular needles. I have never heard of that method. Does anyone know what or how this works? Thanks.

I never heard of it.
But did a search for you and it appears that the creator has it on her website.

About halfway down the page...says for toe-up sock cast-on.

Toe up socks, H? I think it's used that way - best to google for a video or tut as my text would drive me wild; LOL!

Oh,thank you! You know, I have still NOT tried toe up socks yet?! I guess this is the year to try it. the pattern is actually for a small knitted hand bag. It starts from the bottom up. Now it makes sence. Happy New Year to you too!

Well, my goodness. I've been casting on like that since I started knitting. Never knew there was "supposed to be" a slip knot to start with! Now my casting on has a name!

Thank you for the link, I will try it next time I knit socks I tried the figure eight cast on and gave up - went back to cuff down

I have done a few from the toe up and love it. I made cardboard templates sized for my daughter, my sister-in-law and myself so I can just slip the sock on and know just when to start the heel Next pair I am trying Cat's "tomato heel". I watched her video and it looks easier than wrapping. Once you get in to it, toe up both socks at one time are easy to do. Only problem is keeping the two balls untangled, but that is minor.
