A few months ago, I saw on the web an alternative method of knitting that has become quite popular. This technique had its very own stitches and the end result was quite beautiful. I believe that somebody wrote an entire book which teaches this technique. No matter how hard I try, I cannot remember what this technique is called. Is this what they call a "senior moment"? I believe the word began with B, or K, but I am not really sure even about that! Does anybody have a clue?

Nope. I do, in fact, use combo knitting that I learned from Annie Modesitt. This "missing" technique somewhere in the back of my brain even has its own stitches! Argh...this is so frustrating! Thanks for your reply!

Wow--knooking is indeed interesting. BUT...that was NOT what I was searching for. I am so very appreciative of your reply. I really feel like a dunce!!
I just had to have a look at this, and wow, is it interesting. I can see some face/dish clothes coming along from this, or maybe just some more squares for my afghan. I'm definitely going to give it a try, and I found the Brioche as well...can't wait for some spare time now.
