I just need some opinions from around the world. This is the sign that has been posted outside of a church I drive by. The sign has been posted for over a year, once in a while they will put up something else for a week or two then revert to this. I have to pass this church on my way to town and back every time I go out. because of the rural area, the only way to avoid it is to go north into KY then around to the interstate, adding over 20 miles to my trip.
I am deeply offended by the sign, the first time I saw it I was so upset that I was shaking. A young man who works at the library told me that he called the church to complain and was hung up on.

Please note the name of the church as well.

I am a minister's daughter and this is so inappropriate for 2016. I would be concerned about how any female attending this church is treated. you either ignore it or ask other ministers/ priests/rabbi's in the area to discuss this approach with the church concerned.

Some take the word of the Bible very literally. Does not express my view point but we do live in a country where we are allow to express our opinions openly. Ignore it and move on with your life.

The problem is women have ignored this forever. It's the 21st century and time for a change in cave man thinking!

BWAAA HAAA HAA! Maybe the pastor is having problems with his "upitty" wife! I find signs like these HILARIOUS and certainly don't take offense. The " Free Will" bit is the cherry on top. I drive by a church with " Liberty" incongruously included in the title that also puts up boards like this. I just laugh and flip 'em the bird as I drive by! I mean, if that's the way they want to live, let them. I don't see anything offensive.....just pure gold comedic material!

if u dont beling to this church what does it matter? the bible does say this but it also says for husbands to treat their wives as themdelves. its the degree of sumitting that is up to the couple. in Proverbs 31 it talks of the capable wife buying & selling land w/o her husband.
let it go. its not worth raising your blood pressure.

Free & submit just don't belong together. I really wonder if it is possible to fix stupid! I don't think I could live in an area that preaches such hatred towards females. I would feel surrounded by very mentally ill individuals that are procreating. Just my opinion.

Amazing it has been standing for so long. It would never last that long where I live. I guess on the good side, you have no problems with graffiti artists in the neighborhood. And if there aren't any traffic issues, I think I would drive another 20 miles to go around it. It would annoy me that much. I'm guessing it was a disgruntled male that put it up there. Too bad we couldn't put an equally offensive sign on the opposite side of the road! At least the drive would be entertaining at that point!

Dear ggmomliz, I think I would have to respond somehow. Is there any property near the church where you could post a sign (with legal permission, of course). If so, I have one up that said, "Of course, husbands, if you want dinner or love, submit to your wives as to the Lord."
So there!

Offended? I should darn well hope we are all offended, make and female alike!
Surely this breaks some law or other?
Gee, in UK you can be prosecuted cos someone finds your flag offensive.

I don't particularly agree with this sign, but I don't find it offensive. I think too many people are "offended" by inconsequential stuff. The world is not always going to conform to your standards, nor should it have to. As long as you're not a member of that congregation, I don't see a problem. Get over it and move on.

A while ago I Saw this on an avatar here:

Announcing "I'm offended" is basically telling the world that you can't control your own emotions, so everyone else should do it for you.

We have free speech in this country, and that's a good thing. Anything else is tyranny. Even if it offends me, you should be able to say it. We are becoming a nation of easily offended whiners.

Yes, it irritates me. It can be hard to get past the Caveman mentality when the man has the club. When you pass this offensive sign avert your eyes. You may feel better if you offer a silent prayer for all women who are oppressed only for being born female.

I believe someone lost this part of the Bible: the parable at Matthew 25:14-30 ~ Three servants given talents (coins in use at that time)

The lesson: It's not only about money. EACH person is expected to use all of whatever resources he or she has been given. God didn't give intelligence to only half of the population intending for men to dominate women. From the example of Adam and Eve: God created Eve using Adam's RIB, not his head or his foot. Eve, as applies to all women, was not to be dominated by Adam or to be diminished to the level of being trampled underfoot. She, as all women, are meant to be equal partners. Neither men nor women are created to be Superior nor Inferior. It's for each of us to become our best being using whatever resources each of us has been given which can include compassion and powerful feelings against injustice.
