I want to make a aran cardigan sweater for myself the patttern i have for adults is from size 34 t0 50 I made the 34 and it is very big for me. I have the same pattern for child size 12 but I think that will be to sm both patterns call for the same size needles and believe it or not the adults size 34 has less needles on it Does anyone have any idea or pattern for a aran sweater that would be about a child size 18 or even samaller than a adults 34 thanks

How many inches too big is it? Adjustments on Aran sweaters are done at the seams where there is usually moss stitch. Measure some of the pattern designs and eliminate a large one or use less stitches in the moss stitch under the arms. You might try knitting tighter or use smaller needles or you used a thicker yarn than called for, they all make a sweater too big. I know from experience all of these happen. Been there done that.
My first thought is you used yarn that was too heavy, make a swatch and check your gauge. Read the label of the yarn you used where it tells you the stitches per inch and rows, 10 cm equals 4 inches, then check the gauge as listed in the pattern, they should match.
