Okay Jeannine, now you've really done it!!!
I've started knitting my grandson a scarf in boring k2,P3 and reverse side P2,K3, and now I wish I had started something nice, like yours. It would probably take me a year to do it, but at the rate I'm going on this one, it's gonna' be that long before he gets it anyway!! But nevertheless, I'm gonna steal your line about a hug from me when he wears it. He knows his Granny loves him anyway!

All kidding aside, Jeannine, that scarf is absolutely gorgeous!! You do fantastic work!! Best, Myra

I apologize if I missed sending the pattern to anyone who requested it. If you send me your e-mail address, I will be happy to forward it to you. I'm a little wary to post it online because of possible copyright infringement issues. I only request that whoever receives a copy of this pattern reserve it for their personal, non-profit use only. Thanks so very much for all your abundant praise. You did wonders for my ego!!!!! Warmly, Jeannine

When my daughter was born at 24 weeks weighing 640 grams (about a pound and a half) we hand-lettered and taped on her incubator the phrase "Mighty oaks from little acorns grow". During the overwhelming and frequently terrifying four and a half months that she lay in the incubator in neonatal intensive care that phrase brought me hope and comfort when little else did.

So when I saw your stunningly beautiful scarf my mind immediately went back to those frightening days twelve years ago and how the image of the acorn and the oak was my strength. That tiny being in the incubator is now a tall green-eyed blonde 6th grader with remarkably few signs remaining of what she went through in 1998, the year of her birth.

I would so love to have the pattern. My email address is [email protected] I'm a life long knitter but not a very good one. However, if I start now, I just might have it done in time for her 16th birthday. A scarf like this deserves to be given on a significant day.

Just beautiful.

I hate to mention it but redistributing the pattern by email is probably just as much a copyright violation as posting it. What I'm not sure of is what makes a particular stitch copyright protected or public domain. You are using the stitch in a differnt way than how the pattern was published, which may change what is legal and what isn't. The magazine it was published in may well be available on eBay. I have purchased several older copies of magazines for specific patterns, which is probably the only legal way to obtain it. However, since the stitch has been repurposed, I don't really know. If anyone knows, please set us straight.
