I am knitting the "Eyelet Yoke Baby Cardigan" from Carole's Baby Knits, and I need your help.

This cardigan is knitted top down. I am at the point where I finished a wrong side row and have 216 sts on my circular needle since I am doing the larger size.

I just separated the sleeves from the main work and put these sleeves stitches (41 each) on a stitch holder.

I now have 134 stitches on my circular needles, and this should be right.

What I don't understand is the instructions concerning the 4 sts that I have to cast on for the under arm:

quote: *K to within 2 sts of marker, increase in next st, K1, remove marker, cast on 4 sts under arm, remove marker, increase in next st*, work across the back and repeat between stars (146 sts).

My question is : will these 4 stitches be part of the body of the sweater or will they increase the amount of stitches on the sleeve. What will go on my circular needle, what will go on my stitch holder with the sleeve stitches? How will I go about knitting these one way or the other?

When I knit this pattern, I knit the sts. for the front, place the 41 sts. for the sleeve on a holder, then cast on 4sts for the under arm, knit the back sts, put remaining 41 sts for other sleeve on holder, cast on 4 sts and then knit the other front. You will have 146 sts on your needle to be worked for the body. By the way, I put my sleeve sts on waste yarn so I don't have to fight the holders. If you need more help just ask. I use many of her patterns.

These 4 new stitches will go on your circular and there may be an instruction when you get to the sleeves, to pick up stitches from these cast-on ones.

I went and looked at the pattern. I put the sleeves on the holders on the right side row instead of the wrong side row.I work the front, increase on the sleeve like the pattern says then put the sleeve on the holder. cast on 4sts etc. My reply is in the middle of the quote. It's late. I hope you get what I meant.
