I see a lot of people use the diagonal discloth pattern for a quick blanket for babies. How thick do you want the blanket? You can also use bigger needles if you want a quick blanket. I sometimes use a size 13 to get a blanket that can protect, but not as warm as a winter blanket. I am currently knitting one with Caron Simply Soft. I have three strands joined together and just knit them. I knit 10 rows, then knit the first and last 10 of each row. I use stockinette stitch in the center. It is quick and the colors are pretty. It is thick, but in Nebraska, winters are bitter. BTW, I cast on 100 stitches. Seems to be a good size.
