In the last few weeks I've made three BSJ's. This one was my “back up plan.” :) Two cousins of mine (sisters) each has a baby girl. The younger, Abigail, is 7 months old, and the elder, Avery, is almost 9 months. My plan was to make jackets that they will be able to wear when the weather turns cold this winter, so for Abby I made this ruffled BSJ ( http://www.knittingparadise.com/t-106571-1.html ) and for Avery this peach BSJ with crochet trim ( http://www.knittingparadise.com/t-105971-1.html ). In the event that the smaller jacket happened to be too small for Abby, I made a third jacket larger than the other two so that I could give Abby the peach jacket and give this third BSJ to Avery. As it turns out, I did pretty well with the sizing on the first two, so I didn't need this one after all. I'm still glad I made it. I think it turned out kind of cute. :)

The pattern is available for purchase from Schoolhouse Press ( http://www.schoolhousepress.com/patterns.htm ). The details regarding the yarn and the crochet picot trim are posted on Ravelry: http://ravel.me/takdpm/bsj3 There is no pattern for the matching hat. I just made it up on the fly. (Picot hem, garter stitch with color stripes, crown decreases.) I didn't have enough yarn left to complete the hat, so I dug through my stash to try to find scraps that matched. Some colors that I found match much better than others, so I'm not particularly happy with the hat. Oh well. Them's the breaks.

I love the color combination of purples and greens together. The colors came out a little weird in some of the photos. The truest representation of the colors are in the pictures of the skein.

Beautiful work, and love the edging. I have one of these sweaters I started probably two years ago, was completed but wanted to add a cuff and collar but never got to it. I just fond it in one of my many knitting bags I am trying to clean out. maybe some day it will get completed.

I don't crochet but love your finished sweater.

That little trim makes the jacket look so feminine. I love that pattern and the yarn colors are great. I made one for a little boy in the variegated camouflage and it turned out pretty cute.
