I think that the KnitPicks woods would also be fine,,, nice and light. The more impotant thing may be to use circulars so that the weight of your knitting is in your lap, not on the needles and your wrists.

Just started using my bamboo straight knitting needles and bamboo crochet hooks. I love the feel of them! My hands are always cold so I found the bamboo nice to the touch. Just ordered a set of circular and a set of double pointed needles in bamboo too!.

I have arthritis in my hands, and find that the bamboo needles don't slip when I can't give them a strong grip like you have to with metal needles. Also, much lighter to hold than the metal ones too. I wouldn't give them up for anything.

Bamboo or any kind of wooden needles are lighter and yarn doesn't slide off of them as easily as metal. You should by one pair of whatever is the most convenient needles to find and try them. If they work for you, then you can worry about your next step.

Just to let you know I got a really good deal on e-bay and got a set of approx 18 pairs of bamboo needles (up to 10mm, which is what I was actually looking for) for a really good price. I have now used them and love them! It was a better deal to buy the full set of all sizes as it was to get one pair of 10mm!

I agree with you Dreamweaver. Circular needles do come in handy when weight can become a problem for any knitter.
