This is for my niece's baby, due in September. She saw the one I made for the Bavarian workshop earlier this year and asked if I could make one for her baby. I hope she likes it

it will take you to the workshop i did back in the spring .
Good Lord there are lots of different Bavarian stitches there, lol, most of them knitting I think, but this is the one you want.http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lavender-fields-2. It is square rather than rectangular but you can get a book from Amazon by the same person that that link came from, Jenny King. It is called How to learn Bavarian Crochet and it has some lovely patterns in it too. The stitch is also known as the catherine wheel stitch or the wool eater stitch.Mireillebc said:Beautiful indeed.
Have been to your link, but I'm quite at a loss where to find the real tutorial for the crochet stitch pattern itself alone, with no bells & whistles?
I made a search at Ravelry using "bavarian stitch", but ended up with all this:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#sort=best&query=bavarian stitch
Is the stitch you used among them?
Here is a link to basic instructions: http://sarahlondon.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/wool-eater-instructions/ and here is another link that might help: http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Afghans/Bavarian-Rainbow-Afghan/ml/1 . Here is one done as an oblong: http://sarahlondon.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/oblong-wool-eater-blanket.pdfMireillebc said:Beautiful indeed.
