A picture of the lap rug I completed about two weeks ago.

Picture no 1 is the correct side.

Picture no 2 is the wrong side.

I have posted both sides as someone told me that the right side was the wrong side. They based this on the fact that you could see both colours in the row when a change of colour takes place. I did show them the pattern book which shows two colours in the row where the change of colour takes place. This adds to the character or definition of the Bavarian crochet stitch. Perhaps they thought the pattern book was wrong.

Picture no 3 is a wip. I have tweaked the pattern slightly so that the two colours do. Ot show in the change of colour row. I, personally do not think it shows the full character of the stitch.

I love this stitch, also called Catherine's Wheel.

Mostly, I see photos of square blankets, but there is also a way to make this rectangular too.

Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I was surprised, but I like the "wrong side." I truly do not believe their is a wrong side as both sides look great. It is reversible.

This is one of the "yarn eater" blankets because the stitches use a lot of yardage (actually "wool eater", but that is a misnomer for folks who use acrylic or different yarn fibers other than wool).

It's also good as a "scrap afghan" because its lends itself to using up leftovers.
