I have wide feet but wider ankes and calves. I have made socks but when I wear the one pair I made for myself ( a simple ribbed pattern) has the ribbing stretched to its max. I am starting a new pair (airplane trip looming) and I did a small swatch ( ok I hate swatch making- at least this is the beginning) and got like 8 stitches to the inch on size 2 needles. My questions is: can I compensate for my cankles by using bigger needles for the leg part- in ribbing so the final product doesn't look all streched out?

Not a sock knitter, but my son (who is a wall of humanity) wants a pair. I love that pattern, but would like to do them on double points. Can I follow the pattern not using the magic loop method?
