Please someone help. In her "bump scarf" Grace Anna Forrow (pattern available only if one buys the booklet) but partial decriptions are on Ravelry, she use a stitch called "bmps". does she mean bobbles? I assume that they are not big considering the weight of the yarn used. Thanks

"Bobbles can be any size from three stitches to about nine stitches, but five is the most common. If your instructions don't tell you how big to make the bobble, go with five stitches."

From the picture, it appears that the designer's "bumps" are very small "bobbles". 5-stitch bobble is K1,P1,K1,P1,K1 all in the same stitch to start. How does the pattern tell you to make the bump??

I don't have the pattern because it's being sold in a booklet. I am debating its purchase. The bubbles would have to be small in the outline the designer indicates that there are many of them. I will do te testing as you suggested with 5 stitches. Many thanks for your help.

I just finished the Apple Tree blanket from Rowan and it has 112 bobbles. After the first 100 they were easy !! Just kidding.

The ones on the pattern you like are probably more like the Trinity Stitch. I think it is a nice pattern and the texture would be interesting. Don't know if I would spring for the pattern though.

I don't do bobbles. They remind me of nipples and I already have 2 of those.

I use a crochet needle to get the yarn through all the loops. It is an annoying stitch to me too. For the Rib & Bobble Vest pattern in Vogue Knitting International, Early Fall 2012, for $6.99 US, the stitch directions are as follows: 5-st popcorn (K1,p1,k1,p1,k1)in the same at, making 5 sts from one; then insert tip of LH needle into the 5th st and pass it over the 4 sts and off the RH needle, then pass the 4th, 3rd and 2nd st, one at a time, over and off the needle. Have a lovely evening and day tomorrow.

Of course, if you knit a bobble it pretty much stays where you put it.

Nipples, on the other hand.....oh, let's not even talk about it.

And definitely no mirror! I just bought some miniature people. One has grey hair and a potbelly; the other has suspiciously blond hair and three bellybuttons. Oh, wait... there's only ONE bellybutton! So sad.

Gravity catches up with all of us but not bobbles!

Well if any one needs a lift me up, talking about feelings here not nipples, this is the place to come to!
