This link does not open but you do not have to add any stitches to do that. Just slip the first stitch of your pattern purl wise and knit the last stitch of every row.
Thanks I realized that.

Free Sunny Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern on TLCNeedles: US size 8 (5mm) circular, 29" (73.5cm) long

17 stitches and 32 rows=4" (10cm) in garter stitch (knit every row)

Making the Blanket

Cast on 132 stitches.

Rows 1-16: Knit.

Begin pattern:

Row 1 (right side): Knit.

Row 2 (wrong side): Knit 8, (purl 8, knit 4) 9 times, purl 8, knit 8.

These are the 2 pattern rows that are repeated.

Sorry, I copied the wrong link.

Pretty blanket ... no you don't need to add stitches. Just slip the first stitch but still count it as the first stitch. If the border is 5 stitches wide in garter stitch, slip the first and knit the next 4.

Add an 'l' to the link - as in < html > not < htm >
The link opens OK then - THX for the pretty patt!

Whenever someone passes on a link and the comments are - This won't work; I just add the lower-case 'l' (lower case - L) and that is the solution.

Thanks Yvette, I thought that was how it was done, but wanted to make sure. Not I just have to get the right cable. I only have 24 and the next size is 32. I wonder if the 24 would work.

You can also go up to search on this page click on it and type in easy baby blankets and you will find lots that members have posted.

I am considering this pattern, http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home/free-knitting-patterns-for-baby-blankets2.htm.

My question, if I want to slip the first stitch purlwise and knit the last stitch every row, do I need to add 2 stitches. Since I am a beginner, I am hoping I can do this pattern. Unless someone has an easier one-stranded pattern.

Thanks!
