Wow ! Cats can be very protective of their home and family just like dogs. I have had many kitties over the years, and have only had one that was who I called my 'watch cat'. I wonder why dogs are more prone to protecting us rather than cats? Any animal behavioralists out there that can answer this?

Very impressive. BUT, how did the filmer know to go around the car and film the dog going around the car to get to the little boy?
I don't think they did that, it looks to me like they used recordings from 2 different surveillance cameras and just spliced them together.

It was spliced from 2 yard cameras, one was in the dogs yard. I looked at the link below and it was a newscast about it. The owners of the dog voluntarily had the dog put down. The dog really bit deep into the boys leg, thank goodness the cat intervened.

This was on our local news station last night. This is going to be one famous kitty. They reported the dog to be a labrador-chow mix, and was put down. It must have bitten before. The way the dog shook him just before letting go, it could have been so much worse. :x
