Working on a hat and would like to make the ribbing smaller than the actual size of the body of the hat. How would I change size of circulars? I get confused thinking about it...lol.

Like flower power said, just knit with a circular needle two sizes smaller than the one you are using and you will have a nice tight ribbing. Be careful binding off so it doesn't get too tight.

Exactly Carol. I usually go up one needle size for binding off as it usually makes a good 'just right' edge.
