There are so many pretty hats to make for chemo patients, however, I got to thinking that the bulky weight are not so good for these hats. Although I lost all my hair during chemo I wore a wig not a hat, but I think I would have liked something light-weight and soft rather than a bulky cable cap. With the winter coming on I'm trying to decide which would be more useful. If you're walking around shopping would the bulky cap be too warm?

I guess I should make both. Some for outdoors, some for indoors.

Yes make them light. I volunteer with the Cancer Society and found out that the heavier ones for patients are too hot (this is AZ) They also complain that they itch at times, we have a nylone stocking cap that goes under to help with that. I know later toward the cooler weather they will like the heavy ones but try soft yarn that does itch. I know these are for you but thought I would let you know what I have noticed.

I am an on going chemo patient, had my hair shaved off last Nov., I just received my 1st haircut (trim) last week and even had a couple of pink streaks put in, getting crazy in my old age!! The hospital I receive chemo has a "HAT TREE", where we can pick and choose, compliments of the American Cancer Soc.,
Its pretty cold here in Billings, Mt., so I did enjoy a heavier knit hat in the winter. I live in a Nursing Home and am now wearing ball caps, as my hair is still thin.
God bless all of you who donate your hard work, its well appreciated.!!!
