Need your opinions. Do any of you recall the serious threat to our computers if we didn't download McAfee and scan our computers, otherwise our computers would shut down--that was earlier this summer affecting most countries. I just shrugged it off as a scam to sell McAfee. McAfee is everywhere. Just now I got an "update" from Adobe which required that I turn off my anti-virus and that I download McAfee--this is just one software doing this there are many more. Then I googled and found a few articles with disgruntled people trying to get rid of McAfee from their computers:

Warning this site may set off your anti-virus software, mine did, but it is now blocked whatever is on this page--it's a McAfee site:

The Adobe update does not require that you download McAfee. It appears that way, but any good anti-virus program will do. Not sure why they feel the need to scare people like that. You do need some anti-virus, anti-spyware program, for internet-use computers. Don't try to go without it; you'll regret it. There are free programs available too. I use Norton's myself. It has a multi-device suite. For one fee, I can protect my PC, my netbook and anything else we have around.

I haven't used McAfee in years. Norton Antivirus is a much better program, and I get constant updates. I have it set to run a scan every time I start up the computer, then it runs in the background while the computer is on. For 1 subscription price, I have 3 computers protected.

If you cannot afford a $40 USD program like AVG (Fry's). You can download either Avast or AVG free edition. I'm running the AVG Free Edition on a majority of my builds and haven't had too many problems (except for the user(s)). <G>

I had McAfee years ago on my computer at work. The system constantly had to be de-bugged. Had AVG on my home puter and got a nasty virus that shut me down, from Craigslist. Then, I got ESET, have had it 3 years and no viruses at all!! My GD's boyfriend was a little computer geek and told me about it. He is now 19 and owns his own company *DesignFluxx) with two offices so far. He is amazing!
