I have a crab apple tree in my back yard just covered with tiny fruit. This was the year for fruit. We usually get a freeze afte the blossoms set. Has anyone had experience making jelly from the tiny apples? Can I just cook them down, mash them and stain them to make jelly?

Awesome. Crab apple jelly is the best. Just be careful that when you strain them that you put them through a jelly bag or clean pillowcase and DONT be tempted to sqeeze it or the jelly will go cloudy. You can also do it half in half with elderberries or blackcurrents to give you a different flavour and colour. Roll out the toast!

I used to have two crab trees also , mine were not green but red apples on them , I used to make pies with these apples , no need to peel just cut and put in pie and continue on just like you would for a regular apple pie , also made a lot of apple sauce and then just plain eat them they were soooo sweet , if you need recipes just google them ....

Just cut them in half and the cook until soft.
Put them through a cloth , add sugar and then cook this until it gets a littler thicker ( not runny anymore)
Doe not need any certo.
You can also make wine with them !!!

My mother who has been gone for 14 years had a Whitney crab apple tree in her backyard. She used to win ribbons at the county fair with them. What I wanted to tell you, is she had a friend graft four different kinds of apples onto the crab tree. A Transparent, a mackintosh, a golden delicious, and a gravintein (my spelling is not good today). They ripened at different times so there were apples all summer and fall. Five kinds on only one tree, no need to plant separate trees. She used to press the Whitney crab and make cider from them.
