Hi, I had to sign in and respond to you lovely baby dress. I add one just like that that my mom had made for me. Now that was 75yrs ago. I kept it after she pasted it down to me and our daughter wore it. What a trip down memory lane. Thank you.

I think I have a picture of myself in a dress just like this one made by my Grandmother in 1952 or 1953.(but no longer have the dress, don't know what happened to it) It's an oldie but goodie!But I have a stash of books with patterns like this from Grandma, but I knit and do not crochet. Bummer!

It's interesting how these hand made dresses really touch a soft spot in so many of us. A dear friend made two wonderful dresses for my daughter. She is 47 now and although she "lent" these dresses to children she felt worthy of them she always requires that they be returned to her. Her own daughter is now 20 so it probably won't be too long before a 3rd generation will be wearing them. I think in this throw away world it is nice that some of us still value handmade things with a history.

So true, Elaine. I have kept everything my MIL has made for my children as babies and toddlers, in my cedar chest. Just recently I have given a few oldie things to my kids for their new babies. DIL's are so happy to have them...that says a lot about them, in my opinion, I am blessed.
And my sister in law who is forever having garage sales, when I go to her sale, I usually rescue some handmade blankets, and sweaters, booties from her table,Made by our MIL. And some for sale for a quarter or at the most $1.00.
So sad, at least to me it is. But now I have them, and have even found some good babies for them as well.
