Lovely story.

Years ago when I worked in a nursing home, our oldest resident had her 107th birthday. She had never married or been in a plane. She was treated to a plane flight, given champagne and taken for a drive in a limousine, first time for both of those as well. She enjoyed herself enormously and 10 days later died quietly in her sleep... It was written up by the local newspaper. I still have the article somewhere.. Never forgot her... Her name was Clare....

A wonderful story. For my Mum’s 80th Birthday she wanted a ride on a Harley motorcycle. My middle son was friends with a bloke who owned a Harley and Mum turned up to her picnic Birthday Party on the back of his motorbike. It was a huge surprise for all the guests to see how she arrived at the picnic. She loved it. Jen.

Our local nursing home/rehab facility has a couple llamas and alpaca on site. The patients love being able to see them. There is a nice walkway along the fence that is accessible for wheelchairs or walkers. And each year there is a "clipping day," when a local sheep shearer comes with all his equipment to shear the animals. What fun! I've been over there to watch the process, and after the shearing there are always little clumps of hair that you can pick up. Of course, the best stuff is collected for spinning. But the little scraps are good to put out for the birds in the spring, and then watch them pick off pieces to add to their nests.

Very nice. My wish at that (or any age) would be just to wake up healthy. I just celebrated less than 106 and am so very happy to be alive. Now off to pet my two "alpacas" disguised as rescue dogs. Thanks for the uplifting post. jberg
