Different knitted ruffle scarf method?

I'm knitting several Sashay scarves for Christmas gifts and I'm easily bored.

This led to frustration turning the work every 6 stitches, which led to trying backwards knitting (awkward at first but got easier within a few rows).

The result was a scarf flat on one side with cascading ruffles on the other - looked like something I would like.

I didn't continue since I am in mid-scarf but got me wondering if anyone has done this, and what the results were?
