Found this pattern on a sweater that was supposed to be hand knit, but the salesperson didn't know anything about it. Any help would be appreciated.

it does look like its knitted but it looks like it is knitted to a certain place the pick up the stitches along the edge and knit some more.. its really interesting.. I hope you get a better response.. I've never seen this before...

Looks like Garter Stitch with a sort of zig zag effect created by Working stitches together, so the rows are on a slant.
Looks like the oval shapes are knitted separately and attached later.
Is there a link to the pattern anywhere?
