In Massachusetts it’s illegal to hang anything from the rear view mirror, so I hang my masks from my headlight stalk. Makes a great yarn bowl while I sit and knit waiting for the resident grandchild to get out of school. If I’m a passenger I use the cup holder.

A used mask has germs on it even if they are your own. I wouldn't want to put them all over my yarn. I'm not phobic, but, yuck, eew, icky!
Forgive me, but do you knit by magic? There are germs on your hands, too. Do you carry your work in sterile bags and knit through the bag? Or are you one who does not believe that finishing your work involves washing the item? Think about it.
