There are some good videos on YouTube, but basically you put the right needles in as usual but wrap either 2,3,4 or more times, then pull them all through as you would with the single stitch. On the next row, you knit the part if the stitch with the knot, then pull all off the needle. The loops from the prior row are pulled out in the process creating the elongated stitch!
