Recently I added an embroidery machine to my collection of knitters.It is my hope to make the items I knit decorated with monograms etc.Is there anyone on this forum who is doing this?If so,I have some questions that need answers.I am waiting for the delivery of 2 books ordered that I hope will help.
Would love to hear from anyone who is experienced with these machines.

I am sure that I can help you. Please pm me with your questions. I have 2 embroidery machines. I have done a lot on knitting. I find it depends on the type of knit.

You could go to Embroidery Library, Ann the Gram, SICK embroidery sites and look at their tutorials. You will want a stabilizer beneath the embroidery and s thin topping wash-away on top to keep your stitches from sinking into the knit. The bottom stabilizer should be a peel away that you put in your hoop then score and remove the top paper from the adhesive surface snd finger press your fabric/knitting on it. It's a good idea to anchor it with pins outside the stitching area. You don't want to stretch your knitting and put it directly in the hoops. You will probably get more specific advice by PM but whatever you do, knit a sample and test it first!

The Janome has the easiest setup of all and a good warranty
No big pieces to attach, just your hoops.

Thanks so much I will check it out. I have a Janome sewing machine (about 14 yrs. old) and I have been very pleased with it.

I have a Bernina 730. I am having a lot of trouble learning how to embroider. Time is my problem. Not enough of it. I think I have the quilting foot figured out. I have taken classes, but I can't get the hang of this machine. DH and I are going to play with it after the holidays. He wants a quilt with wolf heads embroidered on blocks, so this may be where I start.

I agree here....This is the way I've always done it....
Cannot stress enough....Make a test sample!...The same embroidery design will behave differently on a standard bed knit....as opposed to a bulky knit for example.....With monogram designs....the size of the 'font' makes a difference....If too small...it will get lost in a bulky knit...
Density(amount of stitches in the design) makes a big difference depending on which knit you place it on....Too dense and it distorts the knit...
