I often believe that English is so difficult because so many of our words come from other languages. Particularly Latin and Greek.

Some of those are trick words too. Arkansas can be pronounced as the state--R-can-saw or as the river R-can-sez. There were a few others I had trouble with as I grew up talking like Huckleberry Finn.
