I use yarn on cones a lot. You can use as many strands as you need to make up the weight of yarn required for your project. I often use one cone but navajo ply it so it makes 3 strands. There are many weights of machine knitting yarn so it is something you have to play with to find the right combination.

How many strands would it take for Chunky please?
I have used it double for DK but I have so many cones I could use because I don’t know if, or even when I might ever get back to machine knitting. I gave up knitting when menopause hit.

You gave up machine knitting or all knitting? 🤔
All knitting and only for about 15 years or so.
When I cooled off I went back to knitting by hand because I could wear ‘woollies’ again, but my machine stayed in its cabinet and the room it is in tended to get clogged with other stuff.
We keep intending to clean it out but good intentions are a bit pie in the sky.

I used two to make DK. I think 4 would make chunky. You could knit a swatch and see what you think 🤔
So presumably worsted…I get the impression it is thicker than dk…could be 3 strands. I see lots of patterns that use worsted but have only ever seen that online. Also they say worsted or Aran so they must be as thick as each other?
Or is it only me that is thick? 🥴🤭
