I have just finished knitting a Ruth & Belinda scarf called 'Springtime' which says it is embellished with felted pom-poms. Unfortunately there is nothing within the pattern to tell me how to do this. Do I just make ordinary pom-poms and put them in hot water??

Google "Felted Pom Poms" and you will find several tutorials to choose from.

Thank you! I didn't think about making felted pom-poms (duh!) I was imagining them knitted and then felted. Problem solved.
