e.ridenh: I don't see how you can do a border on the rows where the stitches have dropped. I made a scarf using "lasso" stitch, a twisted drop stitch, and there's no way you could do a border on it. You could probably crochet around the edges when you were through, but it would take several crochet stitches in each drop.

glnwhi: i'm only semiliterate but there is something wrong if the site isn't opening for you. your settings may have gotten set back to default somehow; maybe when an update downloaded. i was scanning a lot of documents this past summer when i had an automatic update download and install and it killed my scanner until i could get the darned computer set back. then, my antivirus program wouldn't let me disable the automatic downloads so the scanner got wiped again. guess a lot of people did some squealing about something or another about that update because the update was updated the next day.

e.ridenh: If you try to add a border without a drop, it will keep the stitches from dropping. Why don't you knit a a fee rows using the pattern to see? Yes, you can add crocheted side borders after you are finished. Works perfectly. But, when you crochet across the dropped stitches, you have to make several crochet stitches in each drop so you don't distort the drop. The best thing to do is forget side borders if you are using any kind of drop stitch. If those dropped stitches are comming from garter stitches, you don't need a border because it isn't going to roll. The scarf I made from lasso stitch was all lasso, no rows of garter. There is nothing but open stitches and it's plenty warm because when you wrap it around your neck, there's a lot of yarn there. You can't pull it up over your nose to keep the wind out though, so it's limited in its uses.
