There is one sentence in the directions that I don't understand. It says with circular needle and rs facing, pick up 96 sts evenly spaced around neck. Join and pm. Purl 2 rnds. bind off in purl.
I don't understand the join pm?

Place marker. The marker shows the beginning of the round. Join just means you will be working in the round. Purl 2 rows and then on the third row purl and bind off the stitches.

slip the two stitches together and place marker to distinguish the begining of the row.

PM = place marker. It is to let you know when the round starts/stops.

As others said, where it says "join and pm" means you are just marking where you are joining the two ends so you know where the next row begins.

This really made me feel stupid. I've been knitting for 20 years and just never came across that abbreviation before. Duh
